'This Filipino Tikoy/Chinese Nian Gao recipe is usually found in tons of Asian supermarkets, especially during Chinese New Year. However, this Chinese New Year Sweet Rice Cake can be enjoyed ANY TIME of the year!  There\'s tons of connections between Filipino and Chinese food, and Filipino Tikoy and Chinese Nian Gao is one of them.  This recipe is NOT a super traditional method. I put in different flavors to change it up, I made it into smaller cupcake sizes instead of the traditional large cake size, and I skipped the 6 hour-plus chilling process.
