'Black Girls Run! 5 Tips for a safe and enjoyable run  - I\'ve been running off and on for the past 4 years.  Over this time, I’ve picked up some handy tips I wish I knew when I first started running.  Whatever  your goal is when you begin running - whether a mile, or from couch to 5k or even 10k, be patient and take things easy at the start. Running long distances is hard and takes a lot of mental and physical strength even for the most seasoned runner. Begin slowly with brisk walking and gradually power your steps as you build your endurance. Running with a friend or joining a running club is a good way to stay motivated when you lack inspiration.   Learn to enjoy running as an activity. Not solely as a means to achieving weight loss There’s so much to soak up in the great outdoors. Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature.
